Josh
I'm an author, nationally in-demand speaker, and happy librarian in Salt Lake City, Utah. But most importantly, here's a picture of me and Dr. Ruth from when we were speaking at a horrible Indian casino in Connecticut. She told me I was "Excitingly handsome, in a tall way." You be the judge.
My first book, The World's Strongest Librarian: A Memoir of Tourette's, Strength, Faith, and the Power of Family received rave reviews in The New Yorker, O Magazine, People, Parade, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, my hero Nancy Pearl (super librarian) and many others.
It was one of Huffington Post's most anticipated books of 2013, a selection for The Washington Post's Notable Nonfiction of the year, and one of NPR's best books of the year as well.
The Korean translation just came out, with the Chinese language edition following hot on its heels.
Oh, and the theater rights just sold, so there's going to be a play too!
2014 has been a busy year for my writing. I'm about to submit the proposal for my next non-fiction book, which I'll be able to talk about soon.
I'm self-publishing at least two novels and a short story collection before the end of the year.
Oh, and here's me and Stephen King, armwrestling at The Mark Twain house in Hartford.
Everyone asks, "Who won?" I won. He was sixty six and I'm a terrible sport. I was working security at his event that day and we had a jolly old time.
Actually, he wanted to take this picture because my mom banned his books from our house in fourth grade, and I kept sneaking them in, a tale rendered with great wit and sensitivity in The World's Strongest Librarian.
